Cleaning

All customer computers and equipment need to be cleaned:

Debris

  • When cleaning any debris, if to much dust, dirt, please do in the garage or outside.
  • Remove any dust, dirt from surface first (do not start using wipes as you will make 'mud'). Use the cleaning brush and or electronic air dusters.
  • For keyboards - dust and brush when upside down.

Alcohol

  • We have alcohol wipes (located in drawer bins corner of repair lab) and gallon containers with 95% alcohol (warning, very strong and not your home type alcohol as that is 74%. 95% means only 5% water contained).
  • Use alcohol to clean all items brought in by customer. Be careful about cleaning items that could be damaged by alcohol.
  • Large surfaces like the outside of a desktop need to be cleaned with a soft cloth + alcohol.
  • Smaller surfaces, use alcohol wipes (if it takes more than 5 wipes to clean something, use soft cloth + alcohol).
  • When cleaning monitors / LCD screens - do NOT clean with 95% alcohol. Do NOT clean with an alcohol wipe. Clean with a microfiber and if screen must be cleaned with a solvent, use the spray (small clear bottled labeled and has a mix of alcohol and distilled water) located in repair lab, spray to a cloth (not directly to screen) and use sparingly to clean screen.
    • Alcohol could possibly affect the screen by seeping, discoloring or remove some LCD coatings.
